Bloat is condition in which free air is accumulate in rumen in all ruminants. Generally bloat is occur due to excessive grain feeding by animal(in general). This accumulate air produce many complications by pressure on vital organs.


Case discussions-

History:-

Goat feed excessive grain last night and today is dull and depress with right lateral recumbency.


Diagnosis:-

  1. Bulginess in left side ( Distended rumen )
  2. Dull and depress
  3. Acidosis ( Due to huge carbohydrate feeding )

Treatment:-

  1. Normal saline ( I/V)
  2. Sodium bicarbonate ( I/V )
  3. OTC (Intra rumen)
  4. Simethicone ( Intra rumen ) [ Anti bloat ] 
  5. 40ml total in small ruminant and 100 ml in large ruminant
  6. Cadistin ( CPM ) ( I/M )
  7. Tribivet
